Thrifting Adventure!!

March 12, 2012

Yesterday some fellow bloggers/thrifting lovers, Waverly, Michelle, Brenda, and I made our pilgrimage to Unique to have a bit of an adventure. As you can see from the above shot, I may have bought a thing or two.

I reached out to these lovely ladies and a few others not too long ago to set this thrifting date up for a few reasons. First of all, I will make any excuse to go thrifting- period. Second of all, I would like to start a community of thrifters in the DC Metro area where we meet up and go thrifting together, give each other tips on great thrift stores in the area (and not so great ones) and to also give back to the community by donating our old clothes or by selling vintage and/or designer pieces for charity. One of my passions is helping people, in any way I can, and if I can find a way to combine helping people AND do it by going thrifting, well, that would just be downright amazing.

This idea of mine is still in the works and I’m trying to figure out the best way to make it happen, so please stay tuned for more info and don’t hesitate to contact me if you want to get involved!! Also please let me know if you’re interested in coming out to the next Thrifting Adventure (this one to be held in MD)!!

Click through to see the rest of…. Thrifting Adventure!!

This is after several delicious baskets full of doughnut tasting bread, yummy fries (of the regular and sweet potato variety), other various dinner dishes, and two micro brew beer samplers at Sweetwater Tavern. It. Was. Yum.

Do you want to get involved in my thrifting community movement or come to the next thrifting adventure? Contact me here!

So fun! If I lived near D.C., I might be creepy and ask if I could come along sometime. I have family in the area, but since I moved so far away, it’s such a long drive now and I hardly get to visit any more.

P.S. Have you done any posts on thrifting tips/techniques? Every time I go, I always have a hard time finding any gems amid all the rejects.

You should totally come with us to a future Thrifting Adventure if you can make the trip! I have not actually done a post on thrifting tips or techniques, but that sounds like something I should definitely do. Challenge, accepted!!

So bummed that I couldn’t make it. Usually, I do not turn down any chance to go thrifting but this time around, something came up at the last minute.

Anywho, I’m so happy that it turned out to be a great time. I can’t wait for the 2nd trip in MD. Also, I’m so with you on starting a thrifting group. I’m down with the get down.

Seemed like you all had fun I’d definitely like to attend the next one. I’ve been thinking of doing one as well and last year I attended one in NYC hosted by Living Fly on a Dime.
