Le Tote Review

le tote

Since the beginning of July I decided to give Le Tote a try after reading a positive review from my fellow thrifty blogger Madeline.  Everything she received in her totes looked super adorable and I wanted in! Since the cost to use Le Tote is $49 per month, I decided I would up the ante and challenge myself to not buy anything else during the whole month of July while I tried Le Tote.

I’m not sure if you heard me, but I said I didn’t buy anything for the whole month of July. Holy temptation, this was super difficult for me. I realized that I’m kind of a spend-a-holic, even though I try to buy things on sale and at thrift stores, I found myself aching to go to Target or Goodwill or shop online pretty much everyday. But I held strong, and didn’t buy anything for the whole month (except one pair of $12 shoes at Ross- I slipped up, but it was the best slip up ever).

When my first tote came in, I was SO excited to open it up and see what goodies were in store for me. I loooved the blue and white polka dot dress, the girly ruffles and crochet details were right up my alley. The green sheer top was cute, but a little big and I had to wear a cami under it. I liked the necklace they sent (bottom left photo) but the earrings they sent were pretty blah. They were just small gold wavy rectangles; not really my style. And the white top was a little too hippy dippy for my taste. So, I emailed my stylist that was assigned to me from Le Tote and told her all of this. She emailed back to let me know she would take all this into consideration for my next tote. So I sent all the items from the first tote back in the provided pre-labeled package and anxiously awaited my next tote.

Le Tote #2

Tote number 2 arrived about a week later and I was much happier with the contents- the powder blue dress with the sheer panels was right on the money!! I got so many compliments on it when I wore it out to dinner with Mike and I seriously considered buying it from Le Tote (they give you the option to buy anything that you get in your tote for a discount) but I wanted to keep up my promise of not buying anything for the month of July. I liked both of the tops they sent but again they were a tad too big under my arms so figuring out a bra that wouldn’t peek out for all to see was tough. The jewelry this time around was ok, a little too blinged out for me so I didn’t wear them.

le tote #3

My 3rd tote arrived at the very end of July and it totally made me smile. I loved the bright colors of the jewelry and both dresses were fun and flirty. The second dress (the one I wore here) was probably my fave as I wore it twice. The color blocked dress was cute but it felt too short for work and the tan panel kind of matched my skin tone, so I didn’t end up wearing it. I liked the navy blue top, but again, it was giving me side-boob action that I wasn’t really into.

After experiencing Le Tote for over a month now, I think it’s a really awesome way to expand your wardrobe for not too much extra cash per month. And if you’re good about returning them in a timely fashion you can get at least 3 totes per month, that equals around $16 per tote. Not too shabby! I think that the best way to make sure you are getting what you like in your totes is to keep up communication with your stylist so they know what pieces you will enjoy the most. If you like what you see and want to try it out for yourself, use invite code TRENDSETTER10 to get on the Le Tote train!

**UPDATE: Just found out that if you become a member of Le Tote, you can go through all their clothing and acessories on their site and by clicking on the heart icon they will be added to your style profile. This way your stylist will always send you the items you love! I miiiight be adding things to my style profile as we speak…

hey lady! thanks for this review!
ive been seeing so many raving reviews of Gwynnie Bee, and i was hoping someone would come out with something similar for straight sizes — that DOESNT require a $1000 hold on your credit card, like the other one i heard about!
im scrimping all my money right now for vacation, but im hoping to try this out in the future!

in the meantime, when is the next thrifting excursion?! :)

I have never heard of Gwynnie Bee- they require a $1,000 hold on your credit card? That sounds intense. We should totally do another thrifting adventure soon!! Let me look at my (already crazy) calendar and hopefully come up with a date in the not too distant future :)

Yay! I’ve been dying to read your review and see what you got! We have to talk about the fit of the light blue sheer dress — I got it in black and the sheer panels showed off my underwear! I am only 5’4”! It looks SO cute on you though. I just discovered their web site upgrades, too, so I will definitely be hearting some stuff!

Well I too, am 5’4″ or so I thought until last week when I went to the doctor’s they measured me at 5’3 1/2″!! Am I shrinking? Already?! I guess that half an inch really makes a difference..?

Just read your review of your 2nd Tote- that is such a bummer that they put earrings in your bag when you already told them you don’t have pierced ears!! Le Tote should put on their listening ears. I hope they made up for it in your next Tote!!

Well, if we’re talking thrifty, then you should also try CoutureSqd. They are only $35 instead of $49 :) In my opinion, their clothes are better too.

Your review influenced me to try the service out. Here is what I received in my tote:

I have since stopped my membership with Le Tote, I still really enjoyed it but not sure I was saving money since I kept keeping/purchasing things I liked!! I hope you are enjoying it as well! :)
