Floral Pop Art

My favorite dress that I found at the Dewdrop Swap & Shop was this vintage floral print shift. Fall florals is definitely a trend I want to join in on, so I snatched it up while happily giving up some of my retired pieces for others to enjoy. The one thing I wasn’t thrilled about- those billowing 60s bell sleeves (see below). Not really the look I’m going for.

I figured that would be an easy DIY alteration since there were seams attaching the bells to a more current short sleeve length. All I’d have to do is seam rip the bell sisters off and sew back up the short sleeves to make it a polished finish. While sewing at my pal Kellie‘s house about a week ago I took care of business.

I really loved how this Le Tote necklace went so well with the blue flowers in the dress- it almost looked like it was pop art as if the necklace is a 3D version of the printed flowers. Once the weather gets a bit cooler I’ll be sporting this dress with tights, knee high boots and a leather jacket. Now all I have left is to figure out what to do with the extra fabric leftover from the no longer needed sleeves. Any ideas?

Ooh La Laura

May 7, 2013

Who had their money on dress number 4? Well if you did you WON! Email me to claim your winnings. (Winnings include a virtual high five and maybe some sort of eCard). Laura looked totally glamorous in this Elie Tahari sheath from Rent The Runway. She decided that red peep toes and chandelier earrings would pop nicely against the neutral dress, and she borrowed the vintage gold beaded clutch from me. I’m getting a Joan from Mad Men vibe from this chic ensamble, dontchathink?

Dress: Gold Infused Lace Sheath by Elie Tahari via Rent The Runway, Earrings: Old Navy, Shoes: Me Too via Shoes By Lara, Clutch: Thrifted from Goodwill (Borrowed from me)

Once again Laura is giving me great ideas about how to pose for future outfit posts. You’d think because we’re twins we’d already be doing the same poses, right? Fraternal twins are really just sisters born on the same day, so no, she won’t feel it if you pinch me. Although we did have our own secret language as little kiddos and we would copy each other a lot. Any other sisters out there who were like this?

ps to Laura- I just learned that we are actually sororal twins since we are both girls. We’ve been saying it wrong for almost 30 years!! oops.

Mad Men Premiere

April 2, 2012

Last Sunday night I took a little trip back in time to the 60s. We headed over to the Arlington Cinema and Drafthouse to watch the Mad Men season premiere where almost everyone was dressed up in their vintage 60s best inspired by the Mad Men ladies and gentlemen. It was awesome!! I loved seeing everyone dressed up to give it an authentic vibe for the season premiere. They even had special cocktails so we could “drink the part” too.
