Raleigh Parades

March 22, 2012

For St. Patrick’s day weekend I took a little road trip with Colleen to visit some good friends who live in Raleigh, NC. Turns out, Raleigh has a St. Patty’s Day Parade every year! We decided to head in to downtown and take a looksie. It was a grand time with all kinds of lucky characters who seemed to enjoy a pint of strong stouts, ales and lagers. (See what I did there?)

After the parade we had lunch and margaritas at a Mexican restaurant. Go figure.

Flashback Friday, St. Patrick’s Day Edition!

March 16, 2012

My family is not Irish. We are a mix of Hungarian, Polish, and Czechoslovakian. The funny thing is, we have several traits in our family that make us appear to be Irish. For example, my brother and sister are true red heads with freckles and everything. Also, I really love beer. And finally, as you can see above, my grandmother liked to knit (and so does my sister, for that matter). Irish people like to knit, you ask? Why yes! I googled it and found a few supporting articles to support my attempt to connect my Flashbak Friday post with St. Patrick’s day. I mean, that shows that my grandmother had Irish tendencies. Perhaps she is knitting outside so that she can watch the St. Patt’s day parade? (Just go with it). Here is a little outfit inspired by my grandma, knitting, and St. Patrick’s day. Have a very happy (and safe) weekend!
